Each eagle ring, womens and mens rings, in the collection was created utilizing the ancient art of lost wax casting. Lost wax casting is a jewelry making method used by the finest jewelers in the world. It is where the ultimate beauty of a fine piece of jewelry originates.

The original ring design begins as a sketch on paper. Then it is painstakingly hand-carved out of a single piece of wax. With surgical precision and careful attention to detail, every feather, shield and shape is intricately carved into a three-dimensional model. Some actually took weeks to complete. Even the most sophisticated jewelry companies in the world do not have the ability to produce such finely detailed sculptures.

After the wax model is completed, it is enclosed in a plaster mold that is fired in a furnace that vaporizes the wax. Molten metal is then poured into the mold's cavity using centrifugal force. When carefully cooled, the metal perfectly reproduces the hand carved wax model, thus called the ancient art of lost wax carving. A mold is then made from this metal model to cast single or multiple editions of the piece in sterling silver or gold. After our American eagle ring is cast to our customer's exact size and specifications, it is polished by hand and stamped with USA and 10k, 14k, or 18 karat solid gold or sterling silver (.925) marking.

ABOUT US

Mike Carroll isn't your conventional jewelry designer kind of guy. He drives tractors, trucks, Harleys and airplanes and designed his first ring in the cockpit at 24,000 feet. And when it comes to eagle rings, he is regarded as one of the world's most progressive talents. A commercial pilot for over 30 years, Carroll is passionate about aviation, eagles and his country. He came up with the idea to create a ring with an eagle motif about a dozen years ago during a flight between Chicago and a small town in Florida. "I used to fly the Chicago/Florida route on a routine basis," he said. "As most pilots would agree, long flights are really hours of boredom occasionally punctuated by moments of terror. I sketched my first design during one of those flights...the boring part."

Many of his designs were inspired from the eagles found on bank buildings, post offices, old coins and badges. The rings commemorate periods, icons and organizations of the United States. "I've always been interested in symbols of the United States. I started to frequent antique stores looking for images of eagles from old currency military buttons, clocks, whatever," he said. "I picked up an old police badge from the turn of the 19th century down in Florida that appealed to me." He named the ring “Liberty” featuring an eagle similar to the one depicted on that badge.  “North Eagle”was inspired by an eagle who returns to its nest every year viewed from the family cabin in the UP of Michigan. All 29 of his rings have a name reflecting the image such as “Republic”, Mariner and “Centurion”.  Naturally, he has named a ring “Senator” in honor of his father, the late Senator John Carroll of Illinois.

"I didn't want my work to look like typical high-school rings," says Carroll. "Not only do my rings salute the dedicated men and women who served in the Armed Forces, they also recognize those who love their country and are proud to show it. My eagle ring collection is the culmination of that vision." Carroll wanted to design a handsome ring with a strong look; one that was heavy in weight and extreme in detail. "I designed these rings as a tribute to the history, culture and heritage of the United States," Carroll says. "There are a lot of people who want to show their patriotism and this is a great way to do it. Rings can be a very personal thing."

Carroll and his wife, Maribeth run the business together from their studios in the north suburbs of Chicago.
